Safety guide
Last updated 28 October 2026
The people in your cast love some of the same films as you, but they are still strangers. Most people are lovely. A few are not, and scammers look for friendly places. These tips help you enjoy Cinebor and stay safe. We do not check who members are, so your own caution is the best protection.
In the chat
- Take your time. Nobody is owed your number, handle or details, and a real friend will not mind waiting.
- Do not share your home address, workplace, ID, financial details or passwords with anyone here.
- Be careful with what you say about your daily routine, when you are alone, or where your family lives.
- If you share a handle or number, remember everyone in the cast sees it and can keep it.
Spotting scams and pressure
Be wary, and report it, if someone:
- asks for money, gift cards, crypto or a “loan”, for any reason;
- sends links, files or “verification” requests, or asks you to install something;
- pushes you to move to another app quickly, or to keep the chat secret;
- is very flattering very fast, tells a sad story, or has an emergency that only you can fix;
- wants to sell, promote or recruit you into something;
- gets angry or guilt-trips you when you say no.
Cinebor will never ask you for a password, a sign-in code or money in the chat. Our team will only contact you from cinebor.app@gmail.com.
If you decide to meet
Cinebor is a chat service, and meeting is always your choice. If you want to meet someone:
- Get to know them in the chat first. A video call is a good extra check.
- Meet in a busy public place, in daylight, such as a café or a cinema foyer.
- Tell a friend or family member who you are meeting, where, and when you will be back.
- Arrange your own transport both ways, and do not share your home address.
- Keep your phone charged. Do not drink more than you can handle.
- Meeting as a group is safer. Bring a friend, or suggest the whole cast meets together.
- Trust your instincts. You can leave at any time, without explaining, and you owe nobody a second meeting.
What you can do in Cinebor
- Report a message or a person from the chat. When two members report the same message it is hidden from the cast until we review it.
- Block a person. You will not see their messages or be cast with them again.
- Leave a cast at any time, or pause matching in Settings.
- Email us at cinebor.app@gmail.com if something serious happened and the report buttons do not cover it. See how we handle reports on the Contact page.
We are a very small team and do not watch chats in real time. We cannot guarantee a quick reply, and we cannot act in an emergency.
If you are in danger or something went wrong
- Emergency: call your local emergency number: 112 in India, 911 in the United States.
- India: report online fraud or abuse at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930; the Women Helpline is 181.
- United States: report scams at reportfraud.ftc.gov and internet crime at ic3.gov; the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
- If you sent money or details to someone, contact your bank or card company straight away.
These numbers and websites can change, so check them if you can.
