Terms of Service
Last updated 28 October 2026
Cinebor puts adults who love similar films into small private group chats (“casts”). These Terms are the agreement between you and Cinebor. Please read them, and the pages they point to, before you sign up.
The short version
- Cinebor is free, run by one person, and still a pilot. It can change or stop.
- You must be 18 or older. Be kind, be honest, and follow the Community Guidelines.
- The other people in a cast are strangers. We do not check who they are. What you share and who you meet is your choice and your responsibility.
- You can delete your account and your messages at any time, in Settings.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas, USA.
1. Who we are, and what you agree to
Cinebor is operated by Ansh Sheravia, an individual based in Texas, United States (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at cinebor.app@gmail.com.
By creating an account or using Cinebor you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, the Community Guidelines and the Safety guide. If you do not agree, please do not use Cinebor.
2. What Cinebor is
You choose five favourite films and the nearest city from our list. On a weekly schedule we place people in a city into casts of about four, based mostly on shared taste, and open a private chat (the “Green Room”) for each cast. Cinebor is a place to talk about films and meet people who like them. It is not a dating service, a matchmaking guarantee, or an identity or background-check service.
Cinebor is currently offered to people in the United States and India. A city opens when enough people have joined it, so we cannot promise a cast in any particular week, or at all. We also cannot promise that you will get along with the people in your cast.
3. Who can use Cinebor
You may use Cinebor only if:
- you are at least 18 years old, and you tell us your real birth year;
- you can form a binding contract where you live;
- you are not prohibited by law from using the service, are not required to register as a sex offender anywhere, and have not been removed from Cinebor before.
We do not run background checks and cannot verify these statements. If you give false information we may close your account.
4. Your account
- One account per person, with a working email address that belongs to you.
- Keep your password and sign-in codes private. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if someone else has used it.
- Some details (your birth year, and your city once you are in a cast) cannot be changed while you are in a cast. This stops people moving between groups to get into one.
- You may not sell, rent or transfer your account.
5. Your content
“Your content” means everything you add: your name, one-line take, film choices, avatar choice, messages, reports and survey answers.
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and back it up for one purpose: running Cinebor, including showing it to the other members of your cast and reviewing it when it is reported.
- You promise that you have the right to share what you post and that it breaks no law or anyone’s rights.
- Your messages are visible to your cast. If you share a phone number, social handle or link in the chat, you are choosing to give it to everyone in that cast, and we cannot take it back from them.
- If you send us ideas or feedback we may use them without paying you or crediting you.
- Deleting your account erases the text of your messages. Other members may already have read, copied or screenshotted them.
6. How you must behave
Follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, you must not:
- harass, threaten, insult, stalk, discriminate against or pressure anyone;
- post sexual or explicit content, or anything that exploits or endangers a minor;
- pretend to be someone else, give a false identity, or create an account for someone else;
- advertise, sell, recruit, ask for money, run scams or send links meant to deceive or harm;
- share another person’s private information or messages without their permission;
- avoid a block, mute or ban, or open a new account after being removed;
- scrape, copy or collect data from Cinebor, use bots or automated tools, probe or attack the service, or interfere with how it works;
- use Cinebor for anything illegal.
7. Moderation and enforcement
- Anyone in a cast can report a message or a person. When two members report the same message it is hidden from the cast until a person on our team reviews it.
- A confirmed violation earns a warning, then a 24 hour mute (you can read but not write), then the account is closed. We may skip steps, or act at once, for serious cases (threats, hate, harm to minors, scams, repeat offences).
- We may remove content, limit features, suspend or close accounts, and keep a one-way fingerprint of a closed account’s email so it cannot sign up again.
- We can read reported messages, and may look at other data when needed to investigate a report or keep people safe. We are a very small team, do not read chats in real time, and cannot promise to see or stop every problem.
- If you think we got it wrong, email us within 30 days with the account email and what happened. We will look again and reply.
- We may share information with the police or other authorities when the law requires it, or when we believe it is needed to prevent serious harm.
8. Meeting people, and other members
Members are strangers when they are cast together. We do not screen, verify, endorse or supervise them, online or offline, and a member being in your cast does not mean they are trustworthy. You alone are responsible for your interactions with other people and for deciding what to share and whether to meet anyone. If you do meet someone, read the Safety guide first. Please report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
9. Films, other companies and links
Film data and posters come from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Their data stays subject to their terms. Links that members post lead to other people’s websites, which we do not control or check.
10. Our rights
The Cinebor name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, revocable permission to use the service as intended. Nothing here transfers any of our rights to you. Parts of the software are open-source and are used under their own licences (see Credits).
11. Messages from us
We email you sign-in codes and important notices about your account or these Terms. If you turn on notifications, we send short, generic push notifications (they never contain what anyone wrote). You can turn them off in Settings or in your browser.
12. Ending your use of Cinebor
- You can leave a cast, pause matching or delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting is permanent.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms or the Guidelines, if the law requires it, or if we end the service. Where we can, we will tell you why.
- Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends will continue (including 5, 8, 13, 14, 15 and 16).
13. No warranties
Cinebor is a free pilot and is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will always work, be secure, be free of errors, or match you with anyone. We do not promise anything about what members say, do or are. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
14. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Cinebor. We are not liable for the conduct of members, online or offline, or for content they post. Our total liability for any claim related to Cinebor is limited to US$100. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or any consumer right you cannot waive.
15. If you cause us a problem
You agree to reimburse us for losses, claims and reasonable costs that come from your breaking these Terms, or from content you post that breaks the law or someone’s rights, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law, and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute about them or about Cinebor, are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting a legal claim, please email us and give us 30 days to try to fix the problem. Any claim that cannot be resolved that way must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, and you and we agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. This does not take away any right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.
17. Changes
We may change Cinebor or these Terms. For a material change we will email you or show a notice in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect, unless the law or safety requires faster action. If you keep using Cinebor after the change, you accept the new Terms. If you do not, delete your account before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when the text last changed.
18. Other things
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given it up.
- These Terms, together with the pages they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about Cinebor. You may not transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours if the service is passed to someone else, and will tell you.
- We write these Terms in English. A translation is only a convenience.
